Programmes

Three programmes,

one market walk each.

Each programme starts with the first hour and includes a Saturday walk round Halden Row market. The ticket shows every session and what it would cost booked one by one.

First Steps

Week 1 is the first hour: your story, a normal week of meals, any results and medicines, and three changes written down before you leave. That week or the next, we meet at Halden Row on a Saturday morning and shop for the first of those changes together.

Three weeks after the first visit, a 30-minute follow-up checks what held, what didn’t and why. You then decide whether to stop there or carry on with single follow-ups at £60 and video check-ins at £40, booked when you need them.

It suits people with one clear question, for example high cholesterol on a recent blood test, a first half marathon, or meals that fell apart after a new job.

A small wooden kitchen table by a window on a grey morning: an open notebook with three short handwritten lines and a pencil, a hand around a mug of tea, and half a slice of toast with a fried egg on a speckled plate.

Gut Reset

Before we start, ask your GP to test for coeliac disease while you are still eating gluten; the first hour can go ahead while you wait for the result. We then agree a low-FODMAP phase of two to four weeks, built on the meals you already cook rather than a printed list.

The market walk comes in week 1 or 2, so the cupboard holds what the phase allows: oats, firm tofu, the green tops of spring onions, lactose-free yoghurt. The three follow-ups fall in weeks 2, 4 and 6 and move you from the strict phase to reintroduction, one food group every three days.

Six weeks covers the strict phase and the first reintroductions. Most people finish the remaining groups on their own with the chart; a further follow-up costs £60. The aim is the widest diet your gut tolerates, not a low-FODMAP diet for life.

Family Table

The family consult is 75 minutes with whoever sits at your table, at the studio or by video from your kitchen. We look at the week as it is: who eats when, who cooks, the four foods your youngest will accept and the evenings everyone gets home late.

On the market walk the children choose one vegetable each, and that vegetable goes into the week’s dinners. Follow-ups in weeks 3 and 8 adjust the plan; nobody is weighed and no food is banned.

Family Table is for everyday eating. A child with a diagnosed food allergy, faltering growth or a feeding tube needs a paediatric dietitian; Nell will help you ask your GP for a referral.

What happens

on a market walk.

45 min · Saturdays from 09:30 · Halden Row

09:30

Meet at the clock by the north gate. Bring your bag and the list from your first hour.

09:35

One lap without buying: what’s in season, what it costs this week, and which stall sells the cheapest lentils.

09:50

Fill the bag against your list: dinners first, then lunches, then snacks.

10:10

Coffee at the end of the row: we write the week’s meals on one card, and you keep it.

What to bring: a bag, the budget you’d usually spend in a week, and comfortable shoes. Outside London, the walk happens by video in your usual supermarket.
